Several years ago, as I commuted to work, I scanned through the contacts on my new iPhone. I noticed a number of people who were special to me. These were friends from years back, family, work associates, people I had met at an event. I spoke a prayer for them as I saw their name and refreshed memories that brought a smile to my face. As I reminisced and prayed, the Lord said, "push the button", instructing me to make a call to that special friend, relative, fellow minister. Instead of just praying for them, I found myself praying WITH them!
Since that day the number on my PrayerCalling list has grown into hundreds. You may be reading this because you are one of my special people who I have a wonderful privilege to pray with and for from time to time.
PrayerCalling is a simple matter of using 21st century communications to connect with people in prayer. Cell phones call across the nation as well as to many other countries and they even keep for us a phonebook of people and phone numbers. Voice mail allows us to pray with someone when they are not readily available. Texting, e-mail and social media can also be used in praying for and with others.
The purpose of this site is not to present a ridged structure or a program but to share ideas and to challenge you to discover how God would use your prayer life. You are encouraged to become intentional about praying for others. Plan times to do it but also pray "in the moment". When you find yourself saying, "I will be praying for you", instead pray with them, at that time, wherever you are.
